Sometimes

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away a prince fell in love with a serving girl And the lion laid his life down for the boy who had betrayed him And the knight slew the dragon and the kingdom was saved But I'm a cynic, I'm a woman of the World And I know that life doesn't work that way I know from experience the necessity of common sense And the only one I'll ever put my faith in is me. But sometimes I need to believe When the World becomes too cold And sometimes I have to give in Sometimes. Life is not a fairy-tale, the good guys rarely win and love, as far as I'm concerned Is an unsettling distraction which always ends in tears You don't often get white chargers round here And two thousand years ago in the greatest story ever told A hero came to save the World And it hurts me now to wonder that when I believed he loved me Was that the greatest fantasy of all. But sometimes, I need to believe Have to let the barriers fall And sometimes I have to give in Sometimes. And those times I ride the dragon And Princes vie for my hand And I will live happy ever after Sometimes, Sometimes I need to believe Have to let the barriers fall And sometimes I have to let you in Sometimes.
